Bill of Material Manager
The Bill of Material Manager is designed to relieve your Made2Manage users of the menial tasks which accompany Bill of Material (BOM) management. There are a number of enhancements over the standard Made2Manage product. First of all, you can work will all of the Made2Manage BOM Types (Standard, Job, Order, and Quote) all from the same intuitive interface. Second, the Bill of Material Manager supports an “Integrated Routing”, so you see the Routing indented right along with the BOM information. Third, BOM Maintenance is performed via an Excel-like interface, with Drag and Drop capabilities to “pull” sections (including the routings) from any other BOM in the system. Finally, an Import capability allows you to create new BOM’s from any CSV type file, without typing.
Normalized Bill of Materials
This capability provides the ability to work with a Standard BOM exactly the same way you would work with a Job BOM. In addition, a New BOM Type of Job Actual is provided. The Job Actual builds a BOM from the actual issues and purchases to the Job. It builds the Routing from the actual labor transactions posted to the Job. Giving you the ability to compare the Job Estimate (Job Detail BOM to the Job Actual).
- Doesn’t distinguish between BOM Types (Quote, Order, Job and Standard), same simple interface.
- Creates a New BOM Type, Job Actual, which is built from Actual Job Transactions.
A New View into your Bill of Materials
The BOM Viewer is the actual BOM Window in the application. You can have multiple BOM’s open at one time. The users can tailor this window to include the columns that they want to work on. Visual Indicators give immediate feedback to any errors or warnings.
- Work with Multiple BOMs at one time.
The desktop allows you to have multiple BOMs open at one time. Each BOM window can be a separate BOM Type, allowing you to have a Quote BOM side-by-side with a Standard BOM.
- User Selectable Columns
Each user is able to control the columns of information for each BOM Type. If you don’t use the Item Number field, you can remove it from your views.
- Unlimited User Templates
A template is a set of columns for a particular BOM Type. The user can maintain multiple templates for a particular BOM Type, easily moving from one to the next.
- Visual Indicators
Visual Indicators quickly identify potential problems within the BOM. Error, Warnings and Pending Actions are easily identified.
- Component doesn’t exist
- BOM or Routing doesn’t exist
- Component Obsolete
- Pending Add, Delete or Update
- .. and more
Streamline Everyday Tasks
The Reporter Module allows you to visualize all of you BOM's in a unique and consistent way. This is the base module of the BOM Manager and it is a required feature. The Reporter modules performs the following features, regardless of the Bill of Material Type (Standard, Job, Order, or Quote).
- Integrated Routing
Integrated Routings or Imbedded Routings allow you to view the Routing right along with the BOM and at the appropriate level. No need to look up the Routing separately.
- Optionally displays the Routing imbedded at each level of the BOM.
- Works on both Single and Multi-Level BOMs
- Works on all BOM Types.
- Where-Used
The Where-Used functionality works across all BOM Types (Quotes, Orders, Jobs and Standard). In addition to your typical single-level search capability, the Full Where-Used search looks at where the component resides with in the complete product structure (component to top-most parent).
- Ability to search for multiple components (And/Or logic)
- Immediate (single level) or Full (component to top-most parent) reporting levels
- Highlights exactly where the components are used in multi-level BOM’s
- Option to exclude Started and Obsolete Parents from search.
- Limit scope to just active (within expiration dates) components.
- Limit scope to Product Classes, Group Codes, Customers, Dates, Status’s and more.
- Compare (Any BOM Type to Another)
Compare a Standard BOM to a Standard BOM; or compare a Job BOM to its Standard BOM. Highlights the differences.
- Identifies Component Differences
- Identifies Quantity Differences
- Reporting (WYSIWYG Reporting)
When you're viewing a BOM on the screen, it will print out exactly as you see it. If you have the second component on a BOM expanded and viewing its children, that’s how it will print. If you have a routing expanded, it will be expanded on the report.
- User Selectable columns and formatting
- Option to include/exclude imbedded routings
- User Selectable Indentation Levels
- Exporting
We understand that exporting information to Excel is common practice. The BOM Manager supports this.
Easily edit Bill of Materials
The Editor Module builds upon the Reporter Module allowing you to make edits to the Bills of Materials, which will be updated to your Made2Manage system.
- “Excel-like” grid editing.
All data is presented in a grid (similar to Excel) which allows for easy navigation and direct edits to the data. The user can use the arrow keys or the mouse whichever is easier.
- Edit information using the mouse, arrow keys or tabbing
- Right Click Context Menus provide further options.
- Copy/Save As copies BOM and Routing.
- When copying one BOM to another, the Routing can also be copied.
- Changes and Exceptions are easily edited before committing.
- Drag & Drop Editing
This provides the ability to drag a BOM (or part of a BOM) from one BOM Window into another. It greatly streamlines the input process without any key-strokes. Routings can also be dragged from window to window.
- Drag from any BOM Type to any other.
- Drag the full BOM, or any portions of.
- Drag Routings from one Structure to any other.
- Replace Components
Working off the Where-Used functionality, the Replace function provides the same options, but then allows you to replace the list of components with another component. You can selectively include/exclude components from the selection.
- Works off the Where Used functionality
- Ability to Select or un-Select BOM’s in the selection
- Ability to enter a Quantity Factor to adjust the unit quantity for the new component.
- Routing Re-sequencing
When copying a Routing, you may want to re-order or re-sequence the operations. You can simply drag the operation to a new order.
- Drag Routings Operations to re-sequence them.
- Re-Number Routing Operations (re-sequence all Ops by 10)
- Update Document Costs
This feature allows you to “refresh” your Quotes and Sales Orders with the current costs in the system.
- Refresh old Quotes and Sales Orders with updated Costs
- Components updated with Current Standards
- Routings updated with Current Labor/Overhead rates.
Import Bill of Materials from various sources.
The Importer Module allows you to import from virtually any type of CSV file (text file), directly into a Bill of Material. An easy to use Map Wizard walks you through the process of mapping the CSV file into Made2Manage.
- Imports from CSV file
A CSV (Comma Separated Values) file is a simple text file which can be generated through Excel or most major CAD packages.
- Error Checking
Once imported into the BOM Manager, error checking is performed to validate the components being imported. Routing information can be easily dragged from another source.
- Visual Indicators quickly identify any problems.
- Editing/Changes of the Imported BOM can be done immediately.
- Routing information can be dragged from a similar Part.
- Map wizard
A simple step by step process to map your CSV file to the proper fields in Made2Manage. A preview function allows you to verify your map ahead of time.
- A simple step by step process to Map the CSV file into Made2Manage.
- Ability to maintain multiple “maps” for various import sources.
- Import to level
Allows the user to select which level they which to import to when dealing with multi-level BOMs.
